Certification: Chemical Treatment Specialist

This certification is geared toward individuals who are experienced, knowledgeable and capable of performing work at an advanced level in both the theory and practice of chemical corrosion prevention and control in hostile environments.

Application Procedure

An application must first be submitted prior to taking the examination-only option to allow time for NACE to verify work experience requirements. This is an open-book proctored exam. If seeking certification through the parallel path option, an application may be submitted upon successful completion of the required NACE course, for verification of work experience requirements.

Requirements Necessary to Achieve Certification

Option 1

  • Application - Chemical Treatment Specialist
  • Certification - Senior Corrosion Technologist

Option 2

  • Application - Chemical Treatment Specialist
  • 4 Years Work Experience in Responsible Charge
and one of the following:
  • Req - Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering
  • Req - Engineer-in-Training Registration or Equivalent
  • Req - Professional Engineer's License
  • Req - BA with Advanced Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering
ReCertification Requirements
All NACE Certifications must be renewed every three (3) years.
