Coatings Inspector Program Level 3 Peer Review

This certification is designed for level 3 coating inspectors (NACE Certified Coating Inspector - Level 3) who aim to be recognized as leaders in the Coatings Inspection field. This includes:

  • Highly skilled and experienced in corrosion, surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions, test instruments, coating mixtures, and safety
  • Can undertake unsupervised non-destructive and destructive inspections of liquid and non-liquid coatings applied to any substrate
  • Has demonstrated technical knowledge, problem solving ability regarding issues that may arise on site and is capable of supervising basic (CIP level 1) and intermediate (CIP level 2) coating inspectors

Upon successful achievement of the CIP Level certification, a Candidate would be able to perform unsupervised non-destructive inspections of liquid and non-liquid coatings to any substrate and demonstrate technical knowledge, problem solving ability regarding issues that may arise on site and would be capable of supervising basic (CIP level 1) and intermediate (CIP level 2) coating inspectors.

NOTE: Candidates should complete NACE level 2 certification and should have the approved work experience requirements before perusing the peer review. The peer review will test and challenge a candidate’s skills and abilities based on real world experience.

Requirements for CIP Level 3 Certification:

• Approved CIP Level 3 Application.
Note: Application must be submitted at least 60 days prior to oral exam.
Prerequisites
• Active CIP Level 2 Certification
Work Experience
• 5 years Corrosion Work Experience in Coatings.

Application Submission

  • Certification candidates must apply for this certification by submitting an on-line application which is subject to approval.
  • Applications must be submitted at least 60 days prior to oral exam. Failure to do so can delay certification processing.

Upon successful completion of requirements, the candidate will be awarded a NACE Coating Inspector Level 3

Certification renewal requirements

  • An approved Recertification application is required every 3 years
  • 1.5 year’s work experience
  • Renewal Fee
  • Members - $240 USD
  • Non-Members - $450 USD
